Strategic Business Unit archive is a collection of historical fashion elements.
It contains garments and publications, which have accumulated over the course of SBU’s lifetime, along with fashion garments, books and magazines, which have been selected for permanent preservation on grounds of their enduring cultural, historical or evidentiary value.
Strategic Business Unit archive is constituted by new and ‘second hand’ garments obtained from vintage clothing shops and vintage fashion, antique markets, flea markets, textile and collectable fairs and auctions all over the world. Most ‘vintage clothing’ contained within this archive have been previously worn, but a large percentage of pieces contained in SBU archive have not. These are often old warehouse, or shop stock. These items are usually referred to by dealers as ‘dead stock’, ‘old stock’ or ‘new old stock’ and can be more sought after and more valuable than those that have been worn, especially if they have their original tags. A special section of the archive is dedicated to the stratgic business unit ‘prototypes’, which attempt to simulate the final design, aesthetics, materials and functionality of SBU fashion garments.
The Strategic Business Unit archive is not open to the public and only used by workers of the company.
